Break cultural barriers over traditional Emirati breakfast. Ask ANY question about Islam, culture & life — no topic off-limits. Motto: Open Doors, Open Minds.
The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) is Dubai most respected cultural exchange program. Located in a beautifully restored wind-tower house in Al Fahidi Historical District, SMCCU hosts daily breakfasts where guests can ask Emirati hosts ANY question about local life, Islam, customs, or culture — no topic is off-limits.
The format is simple: you arrive at 9:00 AM, enjoy a traditional Emirati breakfast (balaleet, chebab pancakes, legamat, Arabic coffee, dates), and chat openly with an Emirati host for 1.5 hours. Questions about prayer, dress, marriage, family life, religion, food, politics — all are welcome and answered with warmth and honesty.
The program is designed to break down cultural barriers and build understanding. It has been featured in National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveller, and the BBC. Suitable for all ages, all religions, and all backgrounds.
Perfect for culturally curious travellers, business people working in the UAE, and anyone wanting a genuinely meaningful encounter with Emirati culture.
